1. For Android Devices using Android 4.0 or more, press the volume down key and the sleep/wake button simultaneously. And the visual output on your android tablet or mobile gets saved as a screenshot in your Gallery under a folder named Screenshots. The screenshot is stored in .png format.

2. For Android Devices running Android Version 2.3, screenshots can be taken by pressing and holding the Home button followed by Sleep/Wake button. The screenshots are saved in a folder named Screen Capture in Gallery. The screenshot is saved in .png format.

3. In Android Devices running Android 3.2, the inbuilt feature of taking screenshots was modified and started. The same keys as for Android 4.0 work in devices running Honeycomb too.

4. In Android Mobiles running Android 2.2, press and hold the Home button and then press the Sleep/Wake key.
